An Online Service
AT&T asked us to design a proprietary online service to compete with Microsoft and AOL, who both had closed subscription services at the time. For over a year, we designed and engineered the service. The service was designed to incorporate national retailers and publishers as well as local advertisers. We created the look and feel of the portal as well as the engineering structure-a set of ‘Animatrix Class Libraries” that sat on ‘Microsoft Class Libraries” and provided an object foundation for email, a personal desktop, and the interfaces with AT&T’s partners. When AOL and Microsoft switched to open systems, the project was no longer viable, and it, sadly, became one of the few Animatrix projects that didn’t ship.
